Maple & Walnut End Grain
₪700
Rows of pale maple and dark walnut pieces that shift in rhythm, like notes on a page. An extra-thick board with a juice groove and rubber feet.
The pattern is built from rows that alternate along the board: wide bands of pale maple with dark American walnut pieces between them, shifting slightly in every row. Seen from above, the dark pieces set up a beat, like drums or notes on a page.
At 4.3 cm thick it is a heavy, stable board that stays put on the counter. It suits carving and breaking down meat, working with a heavy knife, and serving in the middle of the table.
A juice groove runs around the edge, rubber feet lift it off the counter, and the workshop mark is burned into the side. Because of the feet the board is single-sided: you work on the top face, with the groove.
Like every board that leaves the workshop, this one started as raw lumber: milled, cut, glued with high-quality adhesives and sanded. The wood was then soaked in mineral oil, sealed with Ledicode board oil (food-safe and VOC-free) and finished with a hard Deylina wax that seals the pores of the wood.
Care: wash by hand with water and mild soap, and dry right away. Not dishwasher safe. Every so often, rub in a thin coat of board oil to keep the wood in good shape for years.
