More about this piece

Dark American walnut and pale maple squares are set in a checkerboard here, but their size changes from row to row: some rows are wide, others narrower. The eye never settles on one spot, and the pattern seems to move, like ripples spreading across water.
The board is large and thick, 41 × 27 cm and 4.8 cm deep, heavy and stable on the counter. It suits carving and breaking down meat, everyday prep with plenty of vegetables, and serving as a statement piece.
A juice groove runs around the edge, rubber feet lift it off the counter, and the workshop mark is burned into the side. Because of the feet the board is single-sided: you work on the top face, with the groove.

Like every board that leaves the workshop, this one started as raw lumber: milled, cut, glued with high-quality adhesives and sanded. The wood was then soaked in mineral oil, sealed with Ledicode board oil (food-safe and VOC-free) and finished with a hard Deylina wax that seals the pores of the wood.

Care: wash by hand with water and mild soap, and dry right away. Not dishwasher safe. Every so often, rub in a thin coat of board oil to keep the wood in good shape for years.
